Not much to report..

Well, I don't have  a lot to update on, but I did want to do a blog entry.  I had a really fun weekend at a friend's cabin in North GA.  Lots of laughing, fun, wine, good food and just relaxing.  I didn't work out AT ALL over the weekend.  Or even really most of last week, except for spin class on Monday.

I've got spin class tonight and I'm looking forward to it.  I plan to get a workout in every night this week, except Friday.  I really want to finally hit 30 lbs lost this week! I'd like to lose 3 lbs if I can.

First order of business for my triathlon training is to figure out which bike to put on layaway.  They are having layaway at Walmart for the Christmas season and I need to take advantage of that! Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I put something down on a bike.

I also need to look into a family membership at the YMCA instead of the gym that I'm at now.  That way I can use the pool to swimming.  They also have swimming lessons!

I'm also really excited because as I've been telling people about my plans for a triathlon I've been getting a lot of support and encouragement, people saying they will come and be there and even my dear friend Adam (one of my favorite people in the world) is going to do it also! So excited about that.

Ok, need to get back to work.  Just wanted to stop by for a quick update!

What am I thinking?!

So, I have decided to become a triathlete.  Yes, I am aware that I am CRAZY.  But there is nothing I want more! I am completely determined.  I am in the midst of a quest to lose 100 lbs and get in shape.  I have been running (really more like jogging enthusiastically) and spinning, trying to eat right, drinking obscene amounts of water, NOT drinking sweet tea (my cryptonite), diet coke, starbucks, etc.

So far (since January of this year) I have lost 28.8 lbs.  I am ready to really step it up, though.  My first goal of 50 lbs by November is coming up soon! Then I want to lose the next 50 lbs by my 35th birthday.

My 35th birthday.  Which is coincidentally in the same month as the tri.  It is a sprint triathlon, which basically means it is shorter distances than a traditional, or olympic tri.  This particular one is a 500m swim, 15 mile bike ride, and a 5K run.  <insert falling over dead here>.  Happy Birthday to ME! :)

I have a few obstacles to get over first.  (1) I don't own a bike.  (2) I don't actually know how to swim (3) I am still working on actually running a whole 5K without walking.  Just minor details, right? But no matter what, I will do this!

I plan to use this blog as a scrapbook and journal to document my successes and failures along the way, celebrate victories (scale and nonscale), post pictures, share ideas and things that I've learned, etc.

I am really excited! I can't wait to proudly sport a magnet on the back of my car once I finish the triathlon.  This is more than a fitness or athletic quest for me.  This is about completely changing my life.
